Transvaginal Mesh

In July of 2011, the FDA issued a Safety Alert for transvaginal mesh used to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.  The FDA warning stated this was an “area of continuing serious concern,” and it is unclear if the “mesh is more effective than traditional non-mesh repair and it may expose patients to greater risk.”

Complications Include:

  •     Pelvic pain
  •     Erosion of tissue
  •     Infection
  •     Painful Intercourse
  •     Perforation of the bowel or bladder
  •     The need for corrective surgery

Although two mesh devices in particular have been recalled, Ennis & Ennis, P.A. is investigating potential claims for ALL transvaginal mesh devices.  There are four primary manufacturers and numerous devices.  Below is a listing of the most common manufacturers and products.
